Journey's End Campsite

Journeys End Campsite is in an east/west valley surrounded by exotic forest. The South branch of the Grey River runs along two boundaries and has a large sunny swimming hole. There are many open spaces amongst trees and a wide variety of bird life.

There are two main sites, Amberley and Leigh. They may be booked together or individually. Both areas also have caravan power points and plenty of room for tents.

Amberley Lodge and surrounding cabins sleep 40, and Leigh Lodge sleeps 23.

Both areas have kitchen facilities.

The camp is divided into two main areas - Amberley and Leigh. They may be booked together or separately.

If both sites are booked together, adults are $12 per person per night.

Amberley Lodge

Amberley, the main site, consists of a Hall with a log fire and a kitchen and lounge, Amberley Lodge which sleep up to 40, three separate cabins which sleep another 17, and a chapel.

There are 16 caravan power points.

Week Nights:
Adults - $12 per person a night. Minimum charge $125 per night
Children: $8 2-12years, no charge for under 2years of age

Weekends:
Minimum charge $250 for one or two nights.

If both sites are booked together, adults are $12 per person per night.

Leigh Lodge

Leigh is a completely separate facility on the other side of the sport's field. Leigh Lodge sleeps 23 and has a log fire, kitchen, dining-lounge area, toilets, showers and a laundry.

There are 5 caravan power points.

Week Nights:
Adults - $15 per person a night. Minimum charge $125 per night
Children: $8 2-12years, no charge for under 2years of age.

Weekends:
Minimum charge $250 for one of two nights.

If both sites are booked together, adults are $12 per person per night.

A bond of $300 is required for all non-church bookings.

Camp Rules

JOURNEY'S END CAMP RULES OF USE.

1. Damage to property, buildings and contents, will be charged for.

2. No alcoholic beverages or recreational drugs are permitted on site.

3. No smoking allowed in buildings.

4. Furniture, including mattresses, is not to be taken out of rooms.

5. No amplified music outside after dark. (We have a number of neighbours.)

6. No firearms are permitted on the property. (It is an offence to shoot within 2km of a campsite.

7. In accord with camping ground regulations no dogs are allowed.

8. No outdoor fires to be lit. The cost of fighting any fire will be your responsibility.

9. It is necessary to obtain a permit to enter the forest, otherwise you are trespassing. (Permits may be obtained from Rayonier NZ Ltd phone Rangiora 03-310 7612.)

10. Public liability cover is the responsibility of the group hiring Journey's End.
          

Your cooperation in observing these rules assists the committee in providing a site for camping and outdoor recreation as at low a cost as possible.

Please tidy the site and buildings before you leave Journey's End, and take your rubbish with you.. A checklist will be provided with the key. Leave the campsite in the condition you would like to find it.         
           

Please also note:

We ask users of the camp to provide all their own consumable items, including toilet paper, dishwashing and cleaning materials, newspaper and matches. At some times of the year sandflies can be a pest, so we suggest taking insect repellent.
