Conference will equip churches for outreach
Speakers from the World Methodist Evangelism Institute will be among the presenters at an international workshop for church leadership teams coming to New Zealand next year.
Called ‘Equipt 09’, the event aims to equip churches to reach their communities with the gospel. It will be held at Ngaruawahia from April 28th to May 1st.
Equipt secretary Rev Andrew Gamman says Christian conferences often present one particular style of outreach but Equipt will present a smorgasbord of different resources from which attendees can pick and choose.
"This is a regional conference sponsored by the World Methodist Evangelism Institute. International guests will include a Russian bishop, a Caribbean evangelist, and a Korean theological scholar. The conference logo is designed to pick up this multi-cultural inclusiveness," Andrew says.
"The scope is the world, but the focus will be distinctly local with Kiwi and Pasifica practitioners offering dozens of workshops. These will include the use of film and the creative arts, communicating with post-moderns, older generation focussed congregations, and evangelism with the poor."
Registration forms for Equipt 09 will be available from February. For further information contact registrat.equipt@gmail.com.
