Twelve members of the Walking Group from Wesley Church met at the church at 10 am, pooled cars, and proceeded to Roydon Downs on the other side of Paengaroa, about a 45 minute drive. They donned their packs and set off up the track that runs alongside a beautiful bush-clad stream. On the way they looked at a recently built log cabin accessed from a track through a grove of redwood pines. Further on was a small swimming pool (but no-one used it), and then a water wheel that was slowly revolving. The track ended at another log cabin where they all ate their lunches in the sunshine seated at outdoor tables. After lunch they walked back to the cars along a grassy road and then returned back to the church, arriving about 2 pm.
