Beckenham Methodist Church 75 Years - 1929-2004

It is a great privilege to be celebrating 75 years of worship at Beckenham Methodist Church with you and remembering the generations of people who have been here before us. We thank them for the inheritance that we have from them.

This booklet does not set out to tell the early history of the Methodist Church in Beckenham. We have however, included a timeline containing the main events. The full story has been told in the "Golden Jubilee 1928 - 1978" booklet, and in "Our Story" published in 1993 (Both available at the Church Office). Instead, we have tried to present a 'living history' as told by the people who have worshipped at this Church.

Although I am a very recent newcomer to this Church, it has been a great privilege to be able to share your heritage with you. Judy and I have experienced the warmth and friendship that many others have written about. I give my heartfelt thanks to Miriel Jones who has collected the stories together and cajoled everyone for their contributions both in words and in pictures. She has done a wonderful job.

We start the booklet with minister's impressions of their time with us, and then have many stories that describe life in the Church family, both now and in the past.

God be with you all as we move forward in the 21st Century.
