Fijian Congregation
Ni Sa Bula Vinaka!
The Fijian Congregation at Wesley Wellington started off in the late 1970s as a small fellowship group. It has since grown in numbers and is now a registered congregation under the New Zealand Methodist Conference.
The congregation is served by Talatala Rev Peni Tikoinaka, Vakatawa (Catechist), Niko Bower, and lay preachers.
Our church services are conducted in Fijian and follow the same procedures used by the Methodist Church of Fiji & Rotuma. On first Sundays, we join in the combined service of Holy Communion at 10am, and have a Confederacy service at 12:30pm. Other Sundays, services are held at 4pm, except on 3rd Sundays when we have a service at 9am in the chapel to conclude our monthly congregational camp. Other activities include...
Men’s Fellowship
Men’s Fellowship is held every second and fourth Monday in the vestry from 7pm.
Women’s Fellowship
Held every second and fourth Monday in the chapel from 7pm.
Weekly Prayer Meeting
Every Sunday (except first and third Sundays) the congregation gathers in the chapel for a weekly prayer meeting from 2pm until the Fijian service at 4pm.
Church Camps (Spiritual Revival)
Held in the New Hall on the third weekend of every month, starting on Friday evening and ending with a church service at 9:30am on Sunday morning (except in December and January).
Some of our leaders include:
Talatala: Rev. Peni Tikoinaka
Vakatawa: Niko Bower
Tuirara: Waisale Muatabu
For more information about the Fijian Congregation, contact Niko Bower, phone (04) 528 1705 (wk).
