Welcome to Rev. Viliami & the Finau Family
This week we welcome our new Tongan presbyter Rev. Viliami and the Finau Family, who have moved from Auckland.
Viliami’s appointment is a milestone for the Tongan Congregation and for the Wellington Methodist Parish, and is a practical indication of the hard work and dedication of many people over many years.
Conference Arrangements Committee
The initial meeting of the 2012 Conference Arrangements Committee will be held on Monday 13 February at Wesley Methodist Church, in the Vestry, at 7:30pm. Anyone who is interested in helping with the organisation of Conference this year is invited to attend this meeting. To indicate your interest or for more information please contact Bruce, ph: 384 7695.
Become a Budget Advisor
With the present tough economic times, there is a growing demand for budgeting assistance. Agape Budgeting Service urgently requires more volunteer budget advisors. During 2011 they had a total of 249 new cases with 10 on the waiting list. Currently those on the waiting list have to wait for up to four weeks for budget advice. The commitment is only a few hours a week, after a free training course lasting three Saturdays. The next training course is planned for March 2012 (17, 24 and 31 March). It is an opportunity to help people less fortunate than ourselves, and to make a change in their lives.
Agape would be thrilled to hear from anyone in our congregations able and willing to assist. For further info please contact Brian McGettigan, ph: 477 3000.
Parish Safety Day
There will be a Safety Day at the parish on Saturday 24 March in the New Hall. The Fijian and Samoan Congregations will also be doing food stalls on the day.
Flower Roster
We are re-doing the flower roster, starting from March (those on the existing roster continue duties until then). If you are currently on the roster and would like to continue with flower duties, or would like to volunteer, please contact the Parish Office on 384 7695. Thanks to Kula Bower for taking over the reigns from Ulamila.
Missing Mic
The mic from the church sound system is still missing. Have you seen it? Please contact the Parish Office ASAP.
