NEWS OF THE WEEK

We are beginning to get excited about the visit of Greymouth Uniting Parish on the weekend of 8-10 June. On Saturday 9 June we are taking them on a tour of parts of the city including New Brighton. We are calling this "The Recovery Trail", and will feature signs of the creative, hopeful community response to the earthquake.

The recovery process of our own site is moving to the next stage. A big part of this will be doing our own Gap Filler thing featuring the steeple, a garden of contemplation, driftwood and a boat. Watch this space!

The full site plans for our new relocatable office/pastoral centre have nearly been finished by Skyline. Then we move to the consent stage with the CCC. Hopefully bureaucracy won't them stymie us!

Marton Methodist, a small parish in the North Island, have sent us a financial gift to enable us to have a mid-winter party in July.

We have been approached by a primary school who want to set up a learning hub in our hall.

During May our Sunday services we are only singing NZ hymns and songs, in keeping with NZ Music Month.

THURSDAY COMMUNITY BBQ

Every Thursday unless wet, we gather beside the Op Shop for a BBQ and informal sharing.    This is one of the great ways of getting to know others in the neighbourhood. 11.30am - 12.30pm. Donations made from other parishes have enabled us to undertake this outreach project as part of our earthquake recovery.

Purple Door Boutique Opportunity Shop Open Tues, Thu and Fri 10am -2pm and every 3rd Saturday.
