Easter Safety - a message from David Bush
The Connexional Office had a visit recently from the Police as part of their follow up to the shootings in Christchurch mosques. Police are expecting to visit all churches throughout New Zealand and we are aware that some outside of Christchurch have already had a visit.
The objective is to check that we, and our communities are OK; to hear any concerns and to prompt us to have conversations about safety.
Tauiwi Strategy, at its meeting last month, recognised that many of our people work alone and asked "What does that mean for a secretary or Presbyter in a church building?".
I am grateful for the resource that Trudy is putting together. In the words of the Police Sergeant who visited, "I'm not here to scare you – but for the first time we need to take care of one another in new ways."
Coming into Easter please let us all take care and have these conversations to keep ourselves safe as we congregate for our celebrations.
