We are excited to announce that we are inviting expressions of interest in our "Chaplain at Large" role for Methodist Mission Northern. The role focuses on engaging with the inner city community in Auckland in innovative and creative ways to share and promote what it is to be Christian in these modern times. The role also offers pastoral care and support to the existing congregation of Aotea Chapel as well as leadership to the chaplaincy team of Methodist Mission Northern.
Aotea Chapel Community has a very long history of involvement in the inner city. Recognising that the city has changed, the congregation - along with the Mission, are seeking innovative ways of providing the opportunity for new expressions of Christian 'gathering' to emerge.
We are looking for a person (lay or ordained) who is not afraid to challenge the status quo and do things differently, advocate for social justice and social change, whilst also respecting the past and the traditions that we as Christians and Methodists hold dear. In addition to this delicate balance you must also hold a compassion for all people wherever they are in their lifes journey and have skills working with, and collaborating with others who work with, 'at risk' individuals and communities including youth, mental health, addiction, Rainbow etc. Collaborating with others from different professional, philosophical or spiritual beliefs with respect and integrity in order to better serve the community as a whole is also an important aspect of this role.
If you would like a copy of the position description or further information please email Cheryl Banks, Executive Assistant, Methodist Mission Northern at firstname.lastname@example.org
